A traffic stop in Chisago County took a tragic turn when a driver fled and ended up in the St. Croix River. The driver, a 55-year-old Rush City man, had an outstanding felony warrant.

After deputies attempted to stop him, he drove away and eventually entered the river via a boat ramp. The man was seen getting out of the vehicle and swimming, but he was later lost from sight. A search effort involving multiple agencies ensued, lasting into the night.
